oxymetazoline hydrochloride
Nasivin Sanft should only be administered by the nasal route.
Nasivin Sanft formulations contain the active substance oxymetazoline. This drug has vasoconstrictive properties and thus causes a reduction in mucosal swelling.
Nasivin Sanft can be used for the following diseases:
- rhinitis (acute rhinitis),
- allergic rhinitis (rhinitis allergy),
- seizures of hay fever (rhinitis vasomotor),
- to facilitate the secretion of secretions in the event of inflammation of the nasal and / or sinuses,
- otitis media and otitis media with rhinitis,
- for the diagnostic reduction of mucosal ‑ swelling during medical examinations.
Treatment with Nasivin Sanft 0.5 mg / ml nasal spray reduces the onset of rhinitis from an average of 6 days to 4 days compared with physiological saline.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
No clinical data on exposed pregnancies are available for Nasivin Sanft.
Nasivin Sanft should be used during pregnancy and lactation only after careful consideration.

How is Nasivin Sanft used?
Always take these medicines exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. If you are not sure about the dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose of the preparation
For newborns and infants up to 1 year of age:
Until 4 weeks of age, 1 drop of Nasivin Sanft 0.1 mg / ml nasal solution in each nostril 2-3 times a day.
From 5 weeks of age to one year of age, 1‑2 drops of Nasivin Sanft 0.1 mg / ml solution nasal drops into each nostril 2-3 times a day.
A single dose of the product can be used up to three times a day.
The nose should be blown thoroughly or a nasal aspirator should be used before instillation. Because the nasal dropper can only be used vertically, with the head down, Nasivin Sanft 0.1 mg / ml nasal drops should be placed with the child lying on their back or with their head held back and their head tilted slightly to the side. In this position, instill into the nostril, then after a short time, turn the head in the other direction, repeat the instillation into the other nostril. It is advisable to keep your head tilted back for a few minutes after instillation.
For small children from 1 to 6 years:
From the age of 1 year to the age of 6 in both nostrils 2-3 times a day 1 puff Nasivin Sanft 0.25 mg / ml nasal spray solution.
How is Nasivin Sanft 0.25 mg / ml nasal spray applied to young children?
For the first application, the protective cap is peeled off, picked up and the dosing head is filled by pumping several times until the appropriate spray appears. The spray mechanism can be actuated by pressing the dosing head.
A dose is sprayed into the toddler's nasal opening with a single pump press. After use, clean the dosing head with a clean cloth and replace the protective cap.
By pressing the dosing head once, an accurately measured amount is dispensed.
The effect takes a few minutes to take effect and lasts up to 12 hours.
A single dose of the product can be used up to three times a day.
For adults and children over 6 years:
From the age of 6 years, Nasivin Sanft 0.5 mg / ml nasal spray is injected into both nostrils 2-3 times a day.

How is Nasivin Sanft 0.5 mg / ml nasal spray used in adults and children over six years of age?

Duration of application
Do not use Nasivin Sanft for more than 5 to 7 days unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Do not continue to take Nasivin Sanft after a break of several days.
In case of chronic rhinitis, Nasivin Sanft should only be used under medical supervision.
Prolonged application can lead to atrophy of the nasal mucosa.
If you have the impression that the effect of Nasivin Sanft nasal drops / nasal sprays is too strong or if it has a slight effect, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Method of application
It is prescribed to be instilled into both nostrils (Nasivin Sanft solution nasal drops) or sprayed (Nasivin Sanft solution nasal sprays).
If you use more Nasivin Sanft than you should
Seek medical attention immediately!
Poisoning can occur as a result of significant overdose or accidental ingestion of Nasivin Sanft.
Overdose occurs mainly in children.
The symptoms of poisoning can be very different. Feelings of anxiety, agitation, hallucinations and seizures may occur. Decreased body temperature, somnolence, drowsiness, and unconsciousness are also possible.
Other symptoms may include: pupillary constriction, dilated pupils, fever, sweating, pallor, bluish discolouration of the skin due to a decrease in the oxygen content of the blood, palpitations, insufficient ventilation and respiratory arrest, nausea, vomiting, psychiatric disorders, decreased heart pressure, increased blood pressure excessive or slow heartbeat.
How to store Nasivin Sanft
This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use these medicines after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not use this medicine if you notice confusion.
Shelf life after reconstitution:
Once opened, it can be used for 1 year.
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist what to do with any medicine you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.

The active substance is oxymetazoline hydrochloride.
Nasivin Sanft 0.1 mg / ml nasal drop solution
0.10 mg oxymetazoline hydrochloride per ml.
1 drop (28 microliters) contains 2.8 micrograms of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.
Nasivin Sanft 0.25 mg / ml nasal spray solution
0.25 mg oxymetazoline hydrochloride per ml.
1 puff (45 microliters) contains 11.25 micrograms of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.
Nasivin Sanft 0.5 mg / ml nasal spray solution
0.5 mg oxymetazoline hydrochloride per ml.
1 puff (45 microliters) contains 22.5 micrograms of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate, glycerol (85%), purified water.
